Last Monday & Tuesday I had the pleasure of sharing 2 great days in Santa Rosa Sound with Tom & Richard. We caught a mixed bag of Spanish, Flounder, Speckled Trout, Redfish, & Ladyfish on the fly & artificial. These guys from Illinios knew how to fish & had a blast catching our inshore slam as well as some high flying toothy critters.
Had my good buddy Luther Cifers-From YakAttack in town this weekend & saw that we were going to have PERFECT conditions (at least in our opinion) out at 3MB. Steady strong NE wind, 2-3′ rollers, a ripping outgoing tide, & peak feed time from 8-10. After an awesome Shrimp & Grits dinner at the house & a few minor delays Brandon, Luther, & myself hit the water a little after 8. We quickly realized there would be no need for bait. The fish were on top & hungry. We caught fish ranging from 29-38″, lost a couple giants, & count of how many we brought yak side. All fish were caught on the Sebile flat shad, Live Target crank bait, Tactical Anglers sub darter, & the Spro BBZ swim bait. Always nice when things are perfect & good friends are in town!
Saturday morning I had the pleasure participating in my first Heroes on the Water event. The day I shared on the water with these Heroes was an inspiration & one of my most rewarding experiences guiding. Participants caught Speckled Trout & Flounder on live shrimp under a popping cork as well as Flounder on a Berkley Gulp jerk shad & 1/4oz DOA jig head.
